We are Team Dig in Your Heels!

Dig in Your Heels means to refuse to give in and that's what our team leader, Karla Baptiste has done. She is now a three time/twelve year breast cancer survivor. She was diagnosed in 2007 with stage 3A breast cancer at the age of 34, had a recurrence to her spine in 2014, and then again this past July. The title of Karla's memoir, Dig in Your Heels, is the inspiration for the name of our team. Karla's purose in sharing her story is to educate young women about early detection and also to help reduce the mortality disparity in the African American community. Celebrating Life Foundation is committed to making cancer powerless by educating, encouraging and empowering the African American community, women of color and the medically underserviced about the risks of breast cancer. Their mission is dear to Karla's heart and she created this team to raise funds to support them.
